Here is how to join a Google Meet using the nickname provided by your teacher. Remember: You will need to be signed into your OCDSB Google account.  Also, you will not be able to join the Google Meet until your teacher has started it.

Joining a Nicknamed Google Meet

  1. Sign into your OCDSB Google account: Instructions
  2. Go to https://meet.google.com/ OR click the App Launcher (#1) and select Meet (#2).

  1. Enter the Meet nickname (#1) provided by your teacher and click Join (#2).

  1. Select Join now.
  2. You’re now in the meeting! Remember to follow good meeting etiquette.

I can’t join the Google Meet!

If your teacher has not yet started the meeting, you will see a message that the meeting hasn’t started yet. Retry again in a minute or two. If you are still unable to join, make sure you are using the correct nickname and at the correct time.

For Students in K-3

The nicknamed Google Meet will only work if the student is signed into their @ocdsb.ca account. Once in the Meet, the teacher will be able to see when the student is present in the meeting.
