How to Log into the VLE

  1. Go to the ocdsb.ca site.
  2. Choose the Student Portal
  3. Click on the Login now button.
  4. Help your child login using their OCDSB email address (e.g. jdoe1@ocdsb.ca) in the username field and OCDSB password (all numbers) to sign in.  


Once logged in, you will see resources at the top (#1 in the image below).

Your child’s class will appear on the right, under My Courses (#2 below).

Read the News/Activity Feed

Once you enter your child’s class, the main page is the Homepage where you may see an Activity Feed or News Feed.  This is where teachers may keep you informed of current events in the classroom.

Accessing Class Content

In the Content section, you may find curated tasks, activities, videos, etc. organized by topics, or by units.

Receiving Notifications

To receive notifications when new items are posted:

  1. Click on your child’s name at the top right.

  1. Choose Notifications.

  1. Enter a family email address and cell phone number to receive notifications.

  1. Check the boxes for the events for which you wish to receive notifications (#2 below).

Accessing the Portfolio

If the teacher is using the Portfolio Tool to collect evidence of learning, you will be able to see your child’s portfolio inside the VLE.

  1.  Click on your child’s name at the top right.

  1. Choose My Portfolio.

  1. Once on the portfolio page, click on the current class to see the items in the portfolio.
